State police at Philipsburg

  • State police reported a drug-related incident that occurred Dec. 22 on North Front Street in Philipsburg Borough. During the incident, a Philipsburg male was allegedly found in possession of drugs and paraphernalia. He was subsequently arraigned in district court.
  • State police received a report about a retail theft that occurred Dec. 19 at Lykens Market in Port Matilda Borough. During the incident, a 45-year-old Howard woman, Teri Emel, was allegedly caught stealing a pack of Golden Harvest Cigarette Tubes by concealing the item in her purse. The total value of the item was $1.99, and Emel was charged for the incident.
  • State police received a report about public drunkenness and disorderly conduct that occurred Sunday on Presqueisle Street near Front Street in Philipsburg Borough. According to state police, Charles R. Merrell Jr. of Philipsburg was reportedly laying in the middle of Presqueisle Street. State police say he was highly intoxicated, which caused him to step off the sidewalk, lose his balance and fall to the ground. Merrell had deep lacerations to his face, bruising on his knee and a suspected broken ankle. He was also belligerent, disrespectful and disruptive to first-responders at the scene. Merrell was taken to UPMC Altoona for medical treatment and numerous charges were filed through the district court.
  • State police received a report about a Protection from Abuse order violation that occurred Saturday on North Fifth Street in Philipsburg Borough. During the incident, a 53-year-old Philipsburg man, Michael A. Parkes, allegedly threatened the victim. He was subsequently arrested and charges were filed through the district court. State police are continuing their investigation at this time.
  • State police received a report about an incident of retail theft that occurred Saturday at North Centre Street in Philipsburg Borough. During the incident, a known Morrisdale woman concealed approximately $120 worth of merchandise in her purse and transferred price tags on other items. She will be charged through the district court; the investigation is continuing at this time.
  • State police received a report about an incident of harassment involving two known students Dec. 20 at the Philipsburg-Osceola High School. During the incident, a juvenile male allegedly pushed a juvenile female, knocking her to the ground.

State police at Punxsutawney

  • On Dec. 22, state police received a report about a theft that occurred at a hunting camp on Hurd Road in Bell Township. During the incident, someone allegedly took an approximate 15-foot, camouflage ladder stand from the victim’s property between Nov. 11 and Nov. 27.
  • State police reported on a DUI that occurred Sunday in the area of Mabon Street and Euclid Avenue in Brookville Borough. According to state police, a known female was stopped for a traffic violation and allegedly found to be under the influence. State police say she was also in possession of a controlled substance. State police are continuing their investigation at this time.
  • State police reported an on accidental house fire that occurred Dec. 22 on Mottern Road in Oliver Township. No injuries were reported as a result, and damage was estimated at $20,000.

State police at Ridgway

  • State police received a report about a burglary that occurred between Dec. 18 and Dec. 21 at a seasonal residence along River Road in Spring Creek Township. During the incident, someone allegedly gained entry through an unlocked, second-floor window and removed two Ruger rifles. Then, they exited through the front door. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at Ridgway at 814-776-6136.
  • State police received a report about a burglary that occurred sometime between Dec. 1 and Dec. 22 at the Ridgway Commons Complex in Ridgway Township. During the incident, someone allegedly entered the victim’s apartment through an unlocked door and removed a wallet as well as food from the freezer. The total amount stolen was estimated to be $40, the report said. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at Ridgway at 814-776-6136.
  • State police received a report about an incident of harassment that occurred Saturday on the Million Dollar Highway in Weedville. According to state police, there was a report for an active domestic. Upon arrival, state police learned the victim had left in a blue BMW with the suspect. When contact was made with the victim, she didn’t report any injuries.
  • State police received a report about an incident of retail theft that occurred Dec. 14 at Wal-Mart in Fox Township. During the incident, a 33-year-old St. Marys woman, Stacy Lee Parks, tampered with a security device on an expensive retail item, destroyed its box and removed the item from the store. She’s been charged through the district court as a result.
  • State police received a report about an incident of retail theft that occurred Nov. 3 at Wal-Mart in Fox Township. During the incident, a 33-year-old St. Marys woman, Stacy Lee Parks, allegedly stole $340.98 worth of merchandise from the store. She’s been charged through the district court as a result.
  • State police received a report about an incident of retail theft that occurred Dec. 22 at the Wal-Mart in Fox Township. During the incident, a 33-year-old St. Marys woman, Stacy Lee Parks, allegedly stole two items from the store. The total value of the stolen items was $45.76, the report said. She’s been charged through the district court as a result.

Lawrence Township

  • Police reported on a drug-related DUI that occurred Sunday at the Rainbow Car Wash in Lawrence Township. According to police, there was a report about a suspicious vehicle. During the investigation, multiple items of drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine were located; the driver was taken into custody for driving under the influence.
  • Police responded to a motor vehicle accident Saturday on the Clearfield-Shawville Highway. The driver, identified as Tarak Shah, was at a complete stop after traveling off Interstate 80. The vehicle behind him failed to stop and rear-ended his vehicle.
  • Police responded to a motor vehicle accident Saturday on Firetower Road. According to police, a driver, identified as Jadon Wisor, was traveling around a sharp left-hand turn. However, he failed to negotiate the turn in the rain and fog, causing his vehicle to impact an embankment and overturn onto its side. No injuries were reported to police.
  • Police responded to a motor vehicle accident that occurred Dec. 22 in the area of the Clearfield-Shawville Highway and Bainey Road. According to police, a vehicle operated by Marilyn Luzier was slowing for traffic. However, a vehicle operated by Victoria Rothrock failed to stop and impacted Luzier’s vehicle. Rothrock was treated for minor injuries.
