Daniel Wesley Hummel Jr., 85, of Clearfield took his last breath here on Earth and stepped into Eternity and into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, Dec. 15, 2017 at Colonial Courtyard, Clearfield.
Born Sept. 9, 1932, he was the son of the late Daniel W. Hummel Sr. and Helen (Wilson) Hummel.
He is survived by his wife, the former Marilyn R. Eyerly, to whom he was married June 25, 1988.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. Daniel (Sandy) Hummel III of Lewistown and Jonathan (Kate) Hummel of Stuart, Fla., and two daughters, Deborah Lee (Monty) Ingles of Kentwood, La., and Dr. Sandra (Jim) Lowes of Murrells Inlet, SC.
Also surviving are three step-children, Sheryl (John) Haight of Melbourne, Fla., Dr. Brian (Katya) Wallace of West Decatur and William (Lea) Wallace of Marietta, Ga.; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Don Janelle (Irwin) Hummel; a sister, Elaine Beekman; and a brother, Benjamin Hummel.
He was a member of the Hyde Wesleyan Church, Clearfield. He was a Navy veteran who served during the Korean War.
He was a partner with his father and brother in DW Hummel and Sons, a home building contractor. He was a furniture maker and an accomplished woodworker.
As a private pilot, he constructed several experimental home-built airplanes and bravely flew them himself for the first flight. He was a member of E.A.A. Chapters No. 748 in Clearfield and No. 908 in Fort Pierce, Fla.
There will be no public viewing. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.
