DUBOIS – On Monday night, the DuBois City Council voted to initiate the process to potentially raise fees for tapping into the sewer system.
According to city officials, it will only affect newly installed tap connections. It will not affect existing city sewer customers.
City officials will consider potentially increasing the fee from $1,800 to $2,700. If approved, it will be the first increase for sewer tap connections since 2000.
In other business, council voted to send another letter to the commonwealth to support allowing local police to use speed tracking radar equipment.
Councilwoman Diane Bernardo noted that Pennsylvania is the only state that doesn’t allow it, and it is also among the highest statistically for motor vehicle accidents.
The city’s proposed 2018 budget doesn’t include any tax increases. Council will hold its next public hearing on the budget at 6:45 p.m. Dec. 26.
Council also moved its next regular meeting to Dec. 26 due to the Christmas holiday falling on a Monday this year.
The Council voted to accept the planning commission’s recommendations for Atlas Pressed Metals and Winds of Grace Ministry International.
Councilman Jim Aughenbaugh was excused from the meeting.
