The Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau is pleased to welcome Danielle Taylor to its staff as the new marketing and membership service coordinator.
In this role, Taylor will create content and oversee the production of PAGO’s annual Welcome Guide, biannual GO!magazines and blog; work with current member businesses to develop customer-focused advertisements and marketing strategies; develop relationships with new and potential member businesses to amplify the region’s attractions to travelers; and work with travel and outdoor writers to bring targeted publicity to events, attractions and lodging throughout the region. She began working with PAGO on Sept. 25.
Taylor comes to the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau with a strong editorial background and a wealth of experience in outdoor and tourism communications.
After earning a Bachelor’s in magazine journalism and English language and literature as well as a Bachelor’s degree in human geography from the University of Maryland, she worked as a magazine editor for several years in northern Virginia, ultimately working up to the position of executive editor at the National Recreation and Park Association’s Parks & Recreation magazine.
For the past two years, she has worked full-time as a freelance journalist focusing on outdoor recreation, conservation, public lands and travel.
In addition to her paid professional pursuits, Taylor has also been a member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America since 2011, and she was elected to the organization’s board of directors for a three-year term this summer.
Her family history in Jefferson County stretches back to the early 1800’s, and she’s excited about the opportunity to dig in deep to her community.
“Danielle comes to us with vast writing and magazine experience,” says John Straitiff, executive director for the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau.
“I am excited to have her as part of our team and to introduce her new voice to our magazines, blog and other stories. I think readers will appreciate and enjoy her writing style.”
