John P. Catanzarito, 71, of Treasure Lake, DuBois, died Friday, July 7, 2017 at Penn Highlands DuBois surrounded by his loving family.
Born Aug. 24, 1945 in Punxsutawney, he was the son of the late Michael A. Catanzarito and Mary Louise (Stigers) Catanzarito.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, who served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
On March 4, 1967 in Sykesville, he married Connie (Henry) Catanzarito. She survives.
He retired in 2005 from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as an auditor.
He was an active member of Tri-County Church and always knew how to “be the church” by serving and loving those around him, as he strived to be more like Jesus every day. His greatest joy was his family and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
He and his wife, Connie, enjoyed traveling and since retirement have had the opportunity to vacation many places both nationally and internationally. He was an avid hunter and collector of all things hunting and tools.
He was the first person you came to when you needed that hard to find item. Those who knew him have witnessed his sense of humor and have probably been the brunt of one of his many jokes.
He is survived by three children, John Catanzarito and his wife, Leslie of St. Francis, Ky., Dana Johnson and her husband, Jim of DuBois and Michael Catanzarito and his wife, Jennifer of Ashland, Ohio.
He is survived by three sisters, Frances Tattersall and her husband, Dickson of Brookville and Mary Lou McConnaughey and her husband, Dave and Kate Kyser and her husband, Joel, both of Punxsutawney; three brothers, Michael Catanzarito and his wife, Phyllis of Northeast, Md., and Joe Sutton and his wife, Donna and Dominic Catanzarito and his wife, Becky, both of Punxsutawney; and six grandchildren, Haley, Brooke and Judah Catanzarito and Brady, Zach and Karley Johnson.
