PHILADELPHIA — Clearfield Area High School senior Matthew Collins has qualified for the prestigious Penn Relays.
The Penn Relays is one of the oldest and largest track and field events in the United States. This event will attract over 15,000 athletes from all over North America and will be televised on NBC/SN and ESPN .
Matt will be competing in the High School Boy’s Discus and is currently ranked 18th with his qualifying throw, but his throw of 175′ 5′ earlier this week would have ranked him in the top-10 in this event. The High School Boy’s Discus will be contested this Friday, April 28 at 12:30 PM.
The Clearfield Track and Field team is looking forward to seeing Matt compete. His hard work and dedication to the sport of track and field has been instrumental in the success of the program over the past four years.
To have an athlete reach the qualifying standard for an event like the Penn Relays is an exciting accomplishment for any athlete. Every year we are looking for ways to build the culture of our program and Matt’s individual accomplishments have raised the standard in which Clearfield Track and Field athletes will be measured in the future.
