SANDY TOWNSHIP – A man was taken by emergency personnel to Penn Highlands Hospital and then flown to a trauma facility after an accident Monday, reported Sandy Township police.
According to police, a 54-year-old Reynoldsville man was walking along Route 119 in the area of the Bobbette Motel. At the same time, a pick-up truck, which was pulling a trailer, turned left from Route 322 onto Route 119.
A witness told police it appeared the trailer’s load had shifted and that something hit the man in the back of the head. The witness also stated that it caused the man to collapse onto the roadway.
The truck/trailer continued to travel on Route 119 toward Sykesville, the report stated. Police were able to stop the driver on the south side of Sykesville.
Upon examination, the contents of the trailer appeared to be secured to police, but the investigation is continuing at this time.
