Fire Causes $200K Worth of Damage to House in Falls Creek Borough

FALLS CREEK BOROUGH – A house caught fire Wednesday afternoon at 409 Osborne Ave., in Falls Creek Borough, reported state police at Ridgway.

The Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal and the Friendship Hose Fire Department investigated the fire. It originated inside the chimney as a result of creosote build-up.

State police say the flames exited through numerous locations in the chimney mortar joints. This ignited wall studs and wood framing, and total damage was estimated at $200,000.
