While coal industry falters, manufacturing picks up in Pennsylvania

Overall, the leading indicators for the U.S. economy were positive for 2016. The unemployment rate dropped to 4.9 percent, the lowest it’s been since before the Great Recession, and is currently at 4.7 percent. The real GDP grew by 2.5 percent in 2015 and by 3.5 percent in 2016.
