STATE COLLEGE – A section of Interstate 80 eastbound in Centre County remains closed at this hour, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
The roadway was closed overnight due to a multiple-vehicle crash at mile-marker 165 in Centre County. Clean-up is currently under way, but PennDOT expects the closure to be in place until 8:30 p.m. today.
Drivers are still being directed to follow the signed, orange detour, which has traffic exiting I-80 at the Bellefonte/161 interchange and returning to I-80 eastbound at the Lamar/173 interchange in Clinton County. Route 26 and Route 64 are being used on the orange detour.
PennDOT cautions drivers to be alert for slowed or stopped traffic along the detour route.
Message boards along I-80 are alerting drivers to the closure and detour. The Highway Advisory Radio (HARS) is also broadcasting closure and detour information at 1640 on the am dial.
