Kenneth David Crowley, 72, of Houtzdale died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016 at Select Specialty Hospital in Johnstown.
Born May 13, 1944 in Houtzdale, he was the son of James and Dorothy (Keatley) Crowley. He was raised by his aunt and uncle, Charles and Kathleen Luzier.
He served honorable with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was a member and trustee of the Glen Richey Primitive Methodist Church; Houtzdale-Ramey EMS; Houtzdale Fire Co.; Houtzdale Fire Police; American Legion Freeberg Post No. 591; Houtzdale Loyal Oder of Moose Lodge No. 327; Clearfield Eagles; and Stephen Kandrach Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6321, Smithmill. He was also a board member of the Houtzdale Municipal Authority.
On Nov. 23, 1985 in the Glen Richey Primitive Methodist Church, he married Debora (Evans) Crowley, who survives at home.
He is survived by two daughters, Kelly Cordon and her husband, Rudy and Heather Ward and her husband, Jim; seven grandchildren, Rachel (Cordon) Williams and her husband, Anthony, Tristan Lewis, Maria Cordon, Karlie Lewis, Rudy Cordon, Madison Lewis, Dalton Ward; and two very special great-great-nieces, Kyla and Mavalynn Jasper who called him pappy.
Also surviving are four Kathleen Dunworth, William Crowley, Bob Robertson and Mary Lou Southard.
He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren who lovingly called him pappy and his family. He was always joking around. He enjoyed working with model trains and going on train rides.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his aunt and uncle, Charles and Dorothy Luzier; a sister, Eleanor Frantz; brothers, Charles Robertson, Howard and James Crowley; a brother-in-law, Harvey Frantz; and a very dear niece, Diane (Dunworth) Kuntz.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale, with Pastor Duane Steiner officiating.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The Houtzdale Fire Co will hold a memorial service 3 p.m. Sunday and the American Legion memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Both at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in the American Legion Cemetery, Brisbin, with graveside military honors accorded by the Houtzdale American Legion Honor Guard.
