DUBOIS – DuBois City Council publicly announced it will be selling the land on which Dr. Doolittle’s is built to owner Dr. Jeff Rice during Monday night’s regular meeting.
Rice currently leases the 5.2 acres from DuBois City. He will need there to be a subdivision from the larger parcel of land owned by the city approved by Sandy Township.
The total cost for the land will be $550,000. The city is requesting $100,000 at signing with $450,000 due at closing, according to council.
It was noted that DuBois City will pay for the surveying but will be reimbursed at closing. In the end, council expects the process will go through without any expense to itself.
In other business, council voted to authorize the purchase of a large snow plow. City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio explained that it was needed to help plow Main Street.
As of September, PennDOT has transferred Main Street to DuBois City. They’ve agreed for the state to plow it this year; however, DuBois City will take over those duties in 2017 after acquiring equipment.
The council voted unanimously to accept the planning commission’s recommendations regarding Granite Expressions and the project under the Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance program.
Mayor Gary Gilbert also read a resolution of condolence in memory of former DuBois mayor Leo Karoleski.
Due to upcoming holidays, the next two meetings were rescheduled. The Nov. 24 work session was rescheduled to take place 4 p.m. Nov. 23 because of Thanksgiving.
The Nov. 28 council meeting was rescheduled to Nov. 29 due to conflict with buck season.
