Mark R. Bowman, 59, of West Decatur, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, in Decatur Township, Clearfield County, as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
Born July 8, 1957, in Clearfield, he was a son of the late Theodore J. and Catherine Ruth (Bateman) Bowman.
He was a 1975 graduate of Curwensville High School. He received his Bachelor’s degree in counseling from the Pennsylvania State University, University Park, Pa.
Mr. Bowman was a member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Philipsburg. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He was married Aug. 20, 1988, at the Gearhartville Free Methodist Church, RD Philipsburg, to the former Sherry A. Perks, who preceded him in death Jan. 18, 2015.
He was employed as a drug and alcohol counselor with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections until his retirement from SCI Rockview in 2015.
He is survived by two brothers, Gregory J. Bowman and his wife, Diane of DuBois and Jeffrey A. Bowman and his wife, Sue of North Carolina and a number of nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation or funeral service at the request of the family. Burial will be at Beaver Valley Cemetery, Flinton.
