BROOKVILLE – A man is facing felony theft and related charges stemming from an incident that occurred at a residence on Pennsylvania Avenue, in Brookville, Jefferson County.
Online court documents indicate on Aug. 24, Brookville Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 22-year-old Brandon Motter of Rossiter.
According to a criminal complaint, around 3:35 p.m. Nov. 20, 2015, police were dispatched to a residence on Pennsylvania Avenue in Brookville for a possible burglary. It was reported that the homeowner had already cleared the house of possible intruders.
Police met with the male victim who stated that “he went to get $10 for his grandson Brandon Motter from money he kept in a drawer in his bedroom and found it to be empty. The victim stated that he got $555 out of the bank and gave his wife $40, leaving him with $515 in 20’s and 10’s.”
The victim stated that “his grandson was acting very hyperactive, scratching his body and unable to sit still…and that he did not have much of an appetite, which was abnormal for him,” the complaint states.
Around 12 p.m. Nov. 21, Motter agreed to speak with Brookville Police regarding the burglary. He initially denied “involvement, but after being informed that a handprint from the drawer was recovered and would be sent to the State Police Crime Lab, Motter admitted to the burglary,” the complaint indicates.
Motter stated that “he needed money because he owed some people in Pittsburgh money for heroin.” Motter allegedly wrote a statement to the facts of the burglary and signed it, the complaint continues.
