In addition to barbecuing, beer-drinking, and fireworks-watching, we’d like to suggest another way to celebrate July 4th: Taking a quiz on American history and politics!
In order to qualify for a U.S. citizenship, immigrants have to pass a naturalization test.
Applicants are given a list of 100 civics questions to study from, but they are asked up to 10 questions from that list in an oral interview. They have to answer six out of the 10 questions correctly to pass the test and qualify for U.S. citizenship.
United States Citizenship and Immigration Services reports that as of 2015, the overall national pass rate is 91%.
So we’ve put together a quiz with questions from that very test to see how your civic knowledge compares.
Happy 4th of July!
