DUBOIS – On Monday night, City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio wanted to make sure DuBois officials were all on the same page regarding memorial benches along the walkway.
“A lot of people in the past, and sometimes in the future, will ask to put up a memorial for someone,” said Suplizio.
According to him, DuBois City officials have been encouraging individuals to select stone benches, which are similar to the veterans’ memorial, over wooden benches due to their longevity.
An issue, he noted, with the stone benches is their cost. The cost is $1,500 per bench, but Suplizio added there was an additional $1,000 in installation that is not always accounted for.
Suplizio wanted to make sure council members knew to include the installation cost when asked about the cost of a bench.
In other business, the first reading of Council Bill 1913 occurred Monday night. It would close the public Sutter Alley to make room for the new CVS Pharmacy that is being built.
Currently, Pennsylvania CVS Pharmacy LLC owns all of the properties that border Sutter Street. The public meeting will be at 6:45 p.m. July 25.
DuBois City is also filing a request for a $100,000 Sewage Facilities Program Grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
Council members Edward Walsh and Jim Aughenbaugh were excused from the meeting.
