CLEARFIELD – Interested in history? The Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging Inc., in collaboration with Lock Haven University Clearfield, reminds everyone to attend “Life in a Company Town: Peale, PA.”
Dave Caslow, a retired secondary social studies teacher with 39 years of experience, will present “Life in a Company Town: Peale, PA” at Lock Haven University – Clearfield’s Academic Building from 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
This Power Point presentation explores the brief existence of a ghost town named Peale. Located near Grassflat, from 1883 to 1912, Peale had a population of approximately 2,500 people and contained more than 300 buildings.
Every building was owned by the Clearfield Bituminous Coal Company and every job was company paid. When Peale coal supplies became exhausted, the people, buildings, and company headquarters were relocated.
The class is offered at no charge, but pre-registration is required. Register by calling the CCAAA at 814-765-2696. For a complete listing of classes, please visit the agency’s Web site at www.ccaaa.net or www.lhup.edu/clearfield and click on the “Lifelong Learning Institute” link.
Programs and services of the agency are funded in part by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging Inc., Mature Resources Foundation, and local and consumer contributions.
