CLEARFIELD – A Hyde man will stand trial for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.
James Allen Bloom, 44, 3056 Washington Ave., Hyde, is charged with aggravated indecent assault/complainant less than 16-years-old, two counts of indecent assault forcible compulsion and indecent assault person less than 16 years old.
Bloom waived his right to a preliminary hearing during Centralized Court on Wednesday. He remains in the Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, in August the victim told her mother she had been assaulted about a year ago by Bloom.
During an interview with a representative of the Child’S Advocacy Center of Clearfield County in September, the victim said Bloom came into her bedroom one night and forcibly held her in position while he touched her inappropriately for about 30 minutes. Then he stood up and forced her to touch him by holding her hands on his private area. He told her that this was their secret and she shouldn’t tell anyone.
Afterwards, the girl washed her hands and then hid under her mother’s bed. Bloom passed out in the victim’s room, but she was afraid he would come looking for her.
Bloom is a registered sex offender. He was convicted of indecent assault in 1993 and aggravated indecent assault in 1994, according to online court records.
