Mary Jane Long, 90, of Clearfield died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Her death was attributed to complications arising from several age-related affiliations
Born Feb. 2, 1924, she was the daughter of Albert and Maye (Pike) Hummel. She graduated from the Clearfield High School in 1943.
On Oct. 3, 1946, she married Fred Long of Curwensville. She worked tirelessly by his side as a wife, mother, farmer and factory worker.
Divorced by her husband after more than 40 years of marriage, she spent the remaining years until the time of her illness living at the home of her son. She often said that these years were the happiest of her life.
She is survived by her sons, Raymond and Robert Long, both of Clearfield.
In addition, she is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, the children of her sister, Zoe Rowles and her husband, the late William V. Rowles of North Tonawanda, NY, and her nephew, Lee Hummel of Wilmington, Del.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband and her brothers, Clifford, Atlee and Fred Hummel.
A simple life made difficult by forces beyond her control has mercifully reached its conclusion.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1 at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. John White officiating.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. Sunday until the hour of services at the funeral home.
