TYRONE – The Breast Cancer & Women’s Health Institute (BCWHI) will host special speaker, the Rev. Philip Olson, an eight-year cancer survivor and Chaplain on the Pastoral Care Team at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) in Philadelphia.
Olson will present “Release! The Healing Power of Forgiveness.” The free event will be held on Nov. 4 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. in the Tyrone Health and Wellness Building, located at 154 Hospital Dr. on the Tyrone Regional Health Network campus.
The event will kick off with a short presentation by David Arbutina, M.D., FACS, medical director of the BCWHI and Kelly Biggs, M.D., medical director of radiology at Tyrone Regional Health Network.
Olson works with cancer patients and their families as they cope with the disease and move towards recovery. During the forgiveness seminar, he will share unique tools for finding forgiveness in order to positively impact physical, mental, spiritual and emotional health.
“As someone who has faced a cancer diagnosis and the rigors of treatment, I know how important it is to have strong spiritual and emotional wellness, especially in the midst of physically trying times,” said Olson.
“Many people understand the moral and religious implications of forgiveness, but it’s always a pleasure to educate others about how learning to forgive can also help reduce stress and encourage healing. I consider it a privilege to have the chance to present this information to the Tyrone Community.”
Dr. David Arbutina of the BCWHI said, “Optimism is key in the treatment of all cancer patients and we look forward to Reverend Olson’s presentation on this very important topic.”
