CLEARFIELD – The Lawrence Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 presented its new fire engine on Monday at its station located on Mill Road. The fire company recently picked up the new engine from 4 Guys Stainless Steel Fire Trucks in Meyersdale.
The new fire engine is a Gladiator truck with a Spartan chassis. It’s equipped with a Hale 1,500-gallon-per-minute pump and a 1,250-gallon tank. It also has a Cummins 550-horsepower engine, according to township officials.
The total cost, including add-ons, was $494,400, said Barbara Shaffner, township secretary. She said the township used $384,899 in Act 13 funding to pay for the new fire engine with the balance coming out of the general fund.
