Providence, RI, United States (4E Sports) – The gesture of Connecticut Huskies hoops coach Geno Auriemma in calling to congratulate Mo’ne Davis has been reported as a potential recruiting violation.
The objecting school that reported to the American Athletic Conference the has not been identified.
The 13-year-old Davis led the Taney Dragons to the American semifinals in the Little League World Series last month and gained national attention for her pitching and poise.
Connecticut does not believe it was a violation because Davis, an eighth-grader, is not yet a prospective student-athlete.
The NCAA defines a prospective student-athlete as “a student who has started classes for the ninth grade.”
