Cleveland, OH, United States (NewsBahn) – Carlos Santana cracked a two-run homer in the first inning, sparking the Cleveland Indians 7-0 win over the Detroit Tigers Wednesday.
Danny Salazar was terrific on the mound for the Tribe, pitching a complete game shutout while fanning nine batters. He evened up his record at 6-6.
Justin Verlander was knocked around again on the hill for the Tigers, falling to 12-12 while seeing his ERA soar to 4.80 after allowing all seven runs on nine hits in 6.2 innings.
Jose Ramirez had three hits and scored a pair of runs for the Indians, who racked up 11 hits in all.
Lonnie Chisenhall had two base-knocks, including an RBI double.
