Hollywood, CA, United States (4E) – The summer has had its fair share of blockbusters, specifically of the superhero kind. But it looks like Peter Quill and his gang of interstellar outlaws just overtook Captain America by becoming this year’s top grossing film.
Marvel’s latest superhero triumph, Guardians of the Galaxy just earned itself a comfortable spot as the number 1 flick to hit domestic screens this year. This is according to Entertainment Weekly’s report.
The film, which had a production budget of $170 million, has so far earned $262.1 million since it hit theaters in August. A solid second comes Captain America: The Winter Soldier, earning a close $259.7 million.
Also included in the list are Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles—the Megan Fox billed, Michael Bay reboot of the popular 90s cartoon and the teen tearjerker starring Chloe Grace Moretz, If I Stay.
