New York City, NY, United States (4E Sports) – Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has been fined $8,268 by the NFL for taunting after getting into the face of Houston Texans safety D.J. Swearinger.

Manning’s field interaction with Swearinger transpired following a 29-yard touchdown pass to Emmanuel Sanders in the second quarter.

Earlier, Swearinger’s blow to the helmet of Broncos receiver Wes Welker resulted in a concussion.

“I accept the fine. It’s money well spent,” said Manning.

It was the first time in Manning’s career that he had been flagged for taunting or for any unsportsmanlike conduct.

Swearinger said he was surprised his hit resulted in a penalty and that he tried to make the play cleanly.
