New York, NY, United States (4E) – Joan Rivers was rushed to New York’s Mount Sinai hospital on Thursday after she reportedly stopped breathing during a surgery at a local clinic.

According to TMZ, the veteran actress was having a throat surgery to fix a vocal chord-related issue when she needed to be rushed to emergency.

Police authorities say it happened in the morning, after a person called 911 saying they have her “in either cardiac or respiratory arrest.” Shortly after, Rivers was declared to be in critical condition.

Her camp is yet to release a formal statement about the actress’ state of health.

Her children, Melissa, and grandson Cooper, are on their way to be by the beloved family member’s side, multiple sources confirm.

Meanwhile, a day before the incident, the 81-year-old “Fashion Police” host promoted her new book “Diary of a Mad Diva,” and was in “good spirits.”

A source told E! News, “She was cracking jokes about everyone from Jay Leno to Jackie O. She was as sharp as she’s ever been.”
