Chicago, IL, United States (4E Sports) – Rookie Zach Walters hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning to drive the Cleveland Indians past the Chicago White Sox, 8-6 Tuesday at U.S. Cellular Field.
Carlos Santana’s double was followed by a Jason Kipnis groundout RBI and a Mike Aviles single to put the Indians up 3-0 in the top of the first.
Avisail Garcia hit a two-run single in the bottom of the first to cut the White Sox’s deficit to 3-2.
Michael Brantley hit a ground rule double in the second to give the Indians a 4-2 lead.
The White Sox finally overtook the Indians in the fifth following Adam Eaton’s single and Alexei Ramirez’s homer to make it 5-4.
Roberto Perez took the lead back for the Indians in the sixth, 6-5, with a two-run single helped by center fielder Eaton’s error that allowed the ball to skip away in the outfield.
Ramirez tied the game in the seventh with an RBI grounder.
Walters’ two-run homer in the 10th clinched the game for the Indians. Bryan Shaw (5-3) pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief for the win
Indians starter T.J. House pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up five runs.
