Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E Sports) – Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant stated that he, LeBron James and NBA players are underpaid, max contracts are unfair and pay cuts for a bigger team cap space should not be imposed.

Chris Ballard of Sports Illustrated had the chance to speak with Bryant about the issue.

Ballard tweeted a number of Bryant’s statements about his stand.

“KB believes players like him & LeBron are underpaid (put LBJ free market at ~ $75 mil). Believes important to set an example in contracts…” he tweeted.

Ballard also shared how thankful Bryant is on how the Lakers have dealt with him in his career.

“But, “that being said, I took a pay cut. I’m very very lucky to be w/ LA. They could have lowballed me, but that’s not what they stand for.”

Bryant also shared the pressure of playing for less money for a bigger cap space and how unfair it is.

According to Bryant, “As athletes, you get the pressure of playing for the love of the game.Of course we do. But do owners buy teams for the love of the game?”

Bryant is set to return this season after being sidelined by injuries in the past two years.

He was reported to have been working with Nick Young and Wesley Johnson during the off-season.

The 36-year-old is also reported telling his teammates to get ready for the 2014-2015 season.

Newest additions to the team includes 2014 No. 7 pick Julius Randle, blossoming forward Ed Davis, streaky playmaker Jeremy Lin, and seasoned veteran Carlos Boozer.

The Lakers missed the playoffs last season with a 27-55 record.
