Dubrovnik, Croatia (4E) – Filming of a major nude scene in the fifth series of HBO’s Game of Thrones was reportedly blocked by a Croatian Church due to its “rigid policy against public displays of sexuality.”

The local film commission did not allow the nude scene to be filmed in its planned location next to the Church of St. Nicholas also known as the Dubrovnik Cathedral.

In George R R Martin’s latest book, “A Dance with Dragons,” in the epic “A Song of Ice and Fire,” Cersei Lannister, played by Lena Headey, has to walk naked through the streets of King’s Landing as part of her punishment. Dubbed as Cersei’s “walk of penance,” the dishonored Queen of King’s Landing has to walk quite a distance in public which was planned to be shot in the Stradun street between Dubrovnik Cathedral and the Sponza Palace.

The source told the media outlet TMZ that the producers “can’t cut the scene because it’s crucial to the story line and it’s an iconic moment from the book.” However, the church has strict rules regarding “open acts of sexuality,” which means the production team has to find another location for the scene.

The Game of Thrones Season 5 will be aired in April 2015.
