Nick Davila tosses 8 touchdown passes, Rattlers crush Gladiators in ArenaBowl

Cleveland, OH, United States (4E Sports) – Nick Davila threw eight touchdown passes as the Arizona Rattlers bested the Cleveland Gladiators for the largest margin in ArenaBowl history, 73-32 Saturday at Quicken Loans Arena.

It was the Rattlers third consecutive Arena Football League championship and fourth overall.

Davila, who was named the game MVP two days after winning the league MVP award, finished 19-of-24 passing for 237 yards and eight touchdown passes, three to Rod Windsor.

Arizona defensive back-wide receiver Kerry Reed had two interceptions and scored two touchdowns.

Davila found Windsor for a 41-yard touchdown for a 7-0 lead. Then Reed intercepted a Shane Austin pass and ran for 46 yards to make it 14-0.

The Gladiators cut their deficit 14-6 in the second quarter after Austin hit Collin Taylor from nine yards for a touchdown. But another Davila touchdown pass made it a 21-6 Rattlers advantage.

Austin was sacked in the end zone for a safety to make it 23-6 before Davila threw his fourth touchdown pass for a 30-6 lead.

A 5-yard pass to Kerry Reed made it 37-6 with 5:05 left in the second. The Gladiators answered with a touchdown reception by Thyron Lewis, but Davila completed his fifth touchdown pass just before the half to make it 44-13.

In the second half, Davila threw his sixth touchdown pass to push the Rattlers lead to 51-13. The lead ballooned to 58-13 in the third and the Rattlers made it 65-19 with 12:28 remaining

Austin finished 18 of 41 passing or 201 yards and three touchdowns, but threw four interceptions. Lewis caught eight passes for 134 yards and a touchdown, while Dominic Goodman caught three touchdowns.
