Fire salvages draw with Toronto on Quincy Amarikwa’s late goal

Toronto, ON, Canada (4E Sports) – Gilberto and Quincy Amarikwa exchanged goals in the last 15 minutes as the Toronto FC drew with Chicago Fire, 2-2 Saturday at BMO Field.

In just the fourth minute, Justin Morrow burst down the left wing and delivered a cross that Bacary Soumare tried to stop with a header but ended in an own goal.

In the 70th minute, the Fire netted the equalizer with Robert Earnshaw heading home Grant Ward’s cross past Joe Bendik.

Later, after a blocked shot by the Fire, the ball went midfield to Luke Moore who sent it to a streaking Gilberto who slotted home past goalkeeper Sean Johnson to give Toronto FC a 2-1 lead in the 82nd minute.

But with just 30 seconds to go in regulation, Lovel Palmer sent the ball across the field from the left side.

The ball was almost struck by Earnshaw with a bicycle kick before it went to Quincy Amarikwa who struck a volley to give Chicago Fire another equalizer.
