Sky defeats Dream with Vandersloot’s tiebreaker

Atlanta, GA, United States (4E Sports) – After missing 17 games with knee woes, guard Courtney Vandersloot drains the game-winning triple to help the Chicago Sky win game 1 of their semi-final series against the Atlanta Dream, 80-77.

Atlanta had a steady game in the opening frame ending it with a five-point lead, 23-18.

In the second quarter, Atlanta established a 35-23 lead with over four minutes remaining.

But Chicago had a 13-2 run to cut the deficit to a single point going in to the halftime break, 37-36.

Leading scorer for Chicago, Elena Delle Donne, scored 21 points and stated that they had deflections

which they used in their favor.

“I really feel like we slowed down, calmed down and executed. We were a little crazy at first,” Delle Donne added.

Atlanta had a one-point lead entering the final quarter, 58-57.

In the dying moments of the fourth quarter, a possesion was reviwed by the officilas after a scrammble.

A jump ball was ruled and Sylvia Fowls won the tip against Atlanta’s Erika de Souza.

Vandersloot then worked her way to drain an 18-footer to get the lead 79-77.

A made free throw by Vandersloot made it an 80-77 affair.

Besides Della Done leading Chicago, Fowles also chipped in 12 points and 14 rebounds, Epiphanny Prince scored 14 points and Vandersloot had 13 points and seven assists to get the victory.

Guard Angel McCoughtry scored 24 points together with 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead Atlanta in a losing effort.
