CLEARFIELD – Staff members at Visit Clearfield County (VCC) have announced the weekly events for Aug.  22-28.

Ritz Theater, downtown Clearfield

Weekend Movies:

The theater’s lobby opens at 6:30 p.m. You can grab some popcorn, even if you cannot attend the movie showings. For movies and show times, please call 814-765-5835.  Prices are $6 for adults and $4 for children (12 years and under) and senior citizens (60 years and older).

Golf Tournament

Beechwoods Golf Course

Friday, Aug. 22

On Friday, Aug. 22, the North Central Golf Tournament will take place at the Beechwoods Golf Course. The shotgun start will be at 9 a.m. The charge is only $65 per golfer, which includes golf, cart, prizes, lunch and dinner.

Dam Scramble Trail Run

Curwensville Lake

The Dam Scramble is a 13.1-mile long endurance trail challenge at the Curwensville Lake Recreation Area.  The majority of the course will be on single-track trails through the woods with many beautiful views of Curwensville Lake. Farmers Market, downtown DuBois

Saturday, Aug. 23

The downtown DuBois farmers markets will continue every Saturday through Oct. 25. The farmers markets will be open from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Long Avenue and Brady Street parking lot.

Penn State Golf Tournament

From 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, there is Youth Day at Bilger’s Rocks. There will be free hotdogs and drinks for kids 12 years and under. Also, there will be all kinds of free, fun activities including, a scavenger hunt, water balloon contest, Chinese auction and wildlife display.

Stand Up Paddling Classes

Treasure Lake

Tuesday, Aug. 26

Every Tuesday through Aug. 26, there will be stand up paddling classes at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the Bimini Lake Boat Launch at Treasure Lake. Classes are $8 for a one-hour session and every sixth class is free. There will only be four students per class. Classes will be cancelled if the water conditions are unsafe. The Clever Cricket Theater Company

Wednesday, Aug. 27

Every Wednesday through Aug. 27 and then Aug. 28-29, the Reitz Theater, in partnership with Quiet Creek Herb Farm and the Arc of Clearfield/Jefferson Counties, will present The Clever Cricket Theater Company. It will take place from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

It will be changing the face of disabilities one act at a time. This joint project offers a chance for individuals with disabilities to experience the creativity, expression and self-development offered by the theatrical arts.

From acting to set decoration to costumes, folks will have a chance to experience the full range of theater activities and to learn the valuable skills taught by each. This is a great chance to create and to express.

All of it leading up to a performance that is sure to enlighten and entertain. Showings will be Aug. 27 and 29 at the Reitz Theater in DuBois and Aug. 28 at Quiet Creek Herb Farm in Brookville.

That 60′s Show

On Thursday, Aug. 28, “That 60′s Show” will be held at the Lakeview Lodge by Enchante Cabaret. Do you remember the days of Woodstock & the British Invasion? Enchante brings it back with songs from the Mama’s and Papa’s, Beatles, Crosby, Stiles, Nash and more.  An appetizer menu will be available; the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person.
