Madison, WI, United States (4E Sports) – The Wisconsin Badgers will begin their campaign against the LSU Tigers with new starting quarterback, Tanner McEvoy.
Badgers coach Gary Andersen previously stated there will be no announcement for the decision.
Andersen said, “We may know who the starter is, but we’re not going to say who the starter is until we jog out on the field for the LSU game.”
But reports state that McEvoy will be replacing Joel Stave who won last summer’s competition against him, for the starting quarterback duties.
McEvoy ended up playing wide receiver and even started for three games as a safety last season.
He recorded 27 tackles and an interception as a starter for Wisconsin.
McEvoy had the chance to get starting reps after Stave injured his right shoulder in the Capital One Bowl.
Although Stave was reported to be more impressive in training camp, McEvoy will be getting the starting job in the team’s season opener.
In his college career, Stave has passed for 3,598 yards with 28 touchdowns.
