Chicago, IL, United States (4E Sports) – The Baltimore Orioles still have no definite timetable for third baseman Manny Machado after suffering a sprained knee, according to manager Buck Showalter.

Machado will get off the disabled list on August 27 but is unlikely to return because of the injury.

He stated, “It needs to heal up on its own. Time will just tell. Do what I could. Getting treatment every day, getting my leg exercises. Hopefully we’ll see some progression soon.”

The Orioles have been playing Chris Davis at third base since Machado’s absence.

Machado injured his left knee last season, suffering a torn ligament and has been struggling ever since.

He missed the season’s first month while recovering and was hitting .351 over his last 28 games before hurting his right knee.

The Orioles lost their series opener against the Chicago Cubs Saturday, 4-1.

Former Orioles pitcher Jake Arrieta led the Cubs in limiting his former team to only one run, also outpitching O’s starter Kevin Gausman.

The Orioles are currently at 73-53 after dropping the series opener to the Cubs.
