Jon Singleton’s three-run homer powers Astros past Indians

Cleveland, OH, United States (4E Sports) – Jon Singleton blasted a three-run homer in the ninth as the Houston Astros subdued the Cleveland Indians, 5-1 Friday at Progressive Field.

The Astros’ Marwin Gonzalez and the Indians’ Zach Walters exchanged homers to tie the game at 1-1 in the fifth.

A throwing error by first baseman Carlos Santana followed by a wild throw by catcher Roberto Perez allowed Gregorio Petit to complete the go-ahead for the Astros in ninth.

Then Singleton hit a three-run homer off Cody Allen (4-3) that also sent home Jason Castro and Gonzalez for a 5-1 lead.

Astros starter Brad Peacock gave up one run in five innings.

Tony Sipp (4-2) allowed a hit and posted a strikeout in the eighth to take the win.

Indians starter Carlos Carrasco allowed one run in six innings.
