Wellington, New Zealand (4E) – New Zealand’s visitor arrivals rose to 196,900 in July, according to data from Statistics New Zealand released on Thursday, setting a new high for the month of July.
In the 12 months through July, visitor arrivals stood at 2.80 million, rising 6 percent on year. Among the country’s top four sources of visitors were Australia, China, U.S., and UK.
Thursday’s report also showed that there were 233,100 overseas trips that New Zealand residents took in July, lower by 2 percent annually. In the year through July, there were 2.23 million trips were taken by New Zealand residents, an increase of 3 percent from last year.
Student visas posted the largest increase among different visa types for arriving migrants, rising 4,800. Indians and Chinese are the most common migrants who arrived in New Zealand to study, while Britons and Filipinos are the most common migrants who went there to work.
