Hollywood, CA, United States (4E) – Known for both his indie and blockbuster cred, Michael Cera of Juno and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World fame now adds musician to this name.
The announcement of his 17-track album isn’t new. Last week, news about the 26 year old’s debut album made the rounds when friend and co-star (in This Is the End) Jonah Hill tweeted about it to over 4 million followers.
In a recent interview with Billboard Magazine, Cera was quoted describing his music: “It’s very dirty sounding, it’s very sloppy. It’s modest. It’s not really dressed up in any way. It was to manage people’s expectations.”
His album, entitled “True That,” which bears distinctive indie-folk charm comes as a surprise to many of his fans despite the fact that this isn’t really his first venture into music.
The actor, whose most notable roles include Nick in the off-beat coming of age love story, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist and Evan in the cult comedy hit, Superbad, has dabbled in music before dropping his self-released, full album on Bandcamp by playing numerous musicians on screen. He has even toured as a bass player for the super band, Mister Heavenly.
