Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Actress Milla Jovovich and her filmmaker husband Paul W.S. Anderson are expecting their second child together, bringing the upcoming Resident Evil film’s production to a halt, the couple explained via social media.

In a lengthy Facebook post on Monday, Jovovich wrote, “This was originally going to be a post to tell you how excited I am about flying to Cape Town, South Africa to begin working on Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.”

She went on, “But… My husband Paul and I just discovered that we are expecting another baby!!!”

“[W]e thought it would be in everyone’s best interest to wait till the baby is born before we set out to try and tackle an RE movie,” the 38-year-old actress continued. “[W]e want to make the best movie possible and that would be extremely difficult, to say the least, in my present condition.”

“I imagine the only thing I’ll be killing in the near future is an endless supply of cupcakes,” she quipped. Jovovich and Anderson, who welcomed their first child together, Ever Gabo, in 2007, tied the knot in 2009.

“Resident Evil: The Final Chapter,” written and directed by Anderson himself, is the sixth installment in the RE series based on the hit video game of the same title. He has also written and co-produced all five previous ones, and directed three. Jovovich, on the other hand, has starred in all of the films.

According to the couple’s announcement, filming will begin in South Africa in summer 2015. “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter” is set for release in 2016.
