Hollywood, CA, United States (4E) – From being a marine, to going to Julliard to becoming Lena Dunham’s love interest on the HBO hit Girls–Adam Driver goes from being the unlikely heartthrob to being the cover story of GQ magazine’s September 2014 issue.
The 30-year-old actor who will next be seen in the romantic film, What If, with Harry Potter star, Daniel Radcliffe and the comedy film This Is Where I Leave You with comedy superstars Tina Fey and Jason Bateman, graces GQ magazine and shares a peek into his life before stardom.
When asked about his experience serving as a marine–”It’s hard to describe. You’re put in these very heightened circumstances, and you learn a lot about who people are at the core, I think. You end up having this very intimate relationship where you would, like, die for these people It just seemed like a badass thing to do, to go and shoot machine guns and serve your country,” he tells the magazine.
He continues by telling them more about the challenges of entering a completely new and different field by entering the prestigious institution, Julliard—” Obviously the stakes are different. You have the risk of getting shot or killed in one and just embarrassed in the other.”
And his thoughts on his rising fame? “It’s very nice. But in a way, I don’t feel like I’ve really put in my dues. Like it doesn’t feel earned.”
