Minneapolis, MN, United States (4E Sports) – Minnesota Wild goaltenders Josh Harding and Niklas Backstrom are ready to hit training camp in preparation for the start of the season, according to GM Chuck Fletcher.
The GM emphasized that with about a month to go, he’s trying to find out if there are issues so he could help address them.
Harding played his final game of last season Dec. 31 and then was sidelined by complications related to multiple sclerosis.
He was an early-season Vezina Trophy candidate, going 18-7-3 with a 1.65 goals-against average and .933 save percentage; those totals leading the NHL.
Backstrom last played Jan. 30 and had surgery to repair an abdominal injury March 25.
He was 5-11-2 with a 3.02 GAA and .899 save percentage in 21 games last season.
