Singapore, Singapore (4E) – Retail sales in Singapore dropped by 1.1 percent in June from the prior month. The figure fell 1.2 percent when sales of motor vehicles are excluded, according to the data from the Department of Statistics released Friday.
Retail sales rose 0.4 percent in June when compared to the same month last year. Excluding motor vehicle sales, the number dropped 2.1 percent on year, the report showed.
Among the biggest contributors to the drop, computers and telecommunications equipment posted an on-month decline of 9.3 percent, while recreational goods fell 8.1 percent.
Meanwhile, the largest gain in sales was registered by furniture and household equipment, which grew 3.8 percent, and petrol service stations, which jumped 2.1 percent, according to the data.
Sales of food and beverage services slid 1.9 percent in June on month, and fell 2.1 percent on year. Fast food outlets posted an increase in sales, which grew 0.5 percent on month, while the other segments all dropped.
