Cleveland, OH, United States (4E Sports) – Cleveland Indians center fielder Michael Bourn was activated from the disabled list Friday after almost six weeks recovering from a strained left hamstring.

He filled the vacant spot created Thursday when the Pirates claimed right-hander John Axford on waivers.

Bourn was not in the lineup Friday against Baltimore lefty Wei-Yin Chen, but he was expected to start Saturday and Sunday.

He is hitting .267 (76-for-285) with nine doubles, seven triples, three homers, 21 RBI and 37 runs in 66 games.

Michael Brantley has played center field and Jason Kipnis batted leadoff in Bourn’s absence.
