New York, NY, United States (4E Sports) – The 2014-15 NBA season opens Oct. 28, pitting the San Antonio Spurs against the Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Lakers playing the Houston Rockets, according to the schedule released Wednesday.

The planned comeback of Chicago Bulls’ Derrick Rose will be on Oct. 29 against New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

The next day, LeBron James will play his first game since returning to the Cavs against the Knicks at home.

The Christmas Day schedule includes James’ return to Miami as the featured game at 5 p.m. ET on ABC.

Then there’s the Oklahoma City Thunder visiting the Spurs and a clash between the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers.

Each team now will have a full week off around All-Star Weekend in February so players who take part in the events in New York still will receive some rest.

The Cavs, Bulls and Thunder will be the most featured teams on national television this season.

ESPN and ABC will televise 90 games, and TNT will show 53. ESPN and TNT will televise three games Jan. 19 on Martin Luther King Day, including the Bulls’ visit to the Cavs.
