Hollywood, CA, United States (4E) – Actor-comedian-writer Mike Birbiglia has joined the third season of the critically acclaimed Netflix prison dramedy “Orange is the New Black,” but his role is being kept a secret. The 36-year-old actor has already worked with Netflix in 2013 for the one-man show “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend.”
“Orange is the New Black” creator Jenji Kohan, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, would only reveal that the third season will be “about faith, to a certain extent.”
Birbiglia’s new role in the popular Netflix original is just one in a line of his impressive projects. The stand-up comic did a cameo on HBO’s hit comedy “Girls” last year, in the episode titled “Vagina Panic.” His most recent movie appearance, though, was in the box-office success “The Fault in Our Stars,” as Patrick, the leader in the cancer patient support group.
Birbiglia just also recently wrapped roles in an upcoming American action comedy film “Don’t Mess with Texas,” alongside Reese Witherspoon, as well as in JuddApatow’s comedy “Trainwreck and Digging for Fire.”
Birbiglia will also appear next in the “Annie” remake, starring Quvenzhane Wallis and Cameron Diaz.
