Brittany Murphy biopic to air on Lifetime in September

Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – A biopic about late actress Brittany Murphy’s young life is all set to air on Lifetime on September 6, the network recently announced.

The biopic, titled “The Brittany Murphy Story,” stars Amanda Fuller as Murphy, and centers on the late actress’ life before her stardom in the ’80s and ’90s leading up to her tragic passing, and its aftereffects.

Meanwhile, according to Hollywood Reporter, Murphy’s mother Sharon, who was supportive to her daughter’s plight, was not involved in the production or has been consulted in preparation for the film.

Lifetime is yet to release further details about the TV movie, but it is expected to run for two hours. Sherilyn Fenn will play Murphy’s mother.

Brittany Murphy died from pneumonia and complications from anemia and multiple drug intoxication at the age of 32 in December 2009. She appeared in “Clueless,” “Girl, Interrupted,” “8 Mile,” “Just Married,” “Love and Other Disasters” and “Something Wicked,” which was released posthumously.
