Thornhill, ON, Canada (4E Sports) – The 2014 No. 1 draft pick, Andrew Wiggins, returned to his former school and revisited memories in the playground where it all began for him.
Wiggins visited Glen Shields Public School and shot an advertisement for a sports drink and supplement manufacturer.
“It means a lot . . . coming back to my old stomping grounds. This is where it all started,” he stated.
The 19-year-old reminisced the time when he came here to play after school with his friends.
“When I come here, I just really forget everything,” he added.
Wiggins said he forgot he was shooting a commercial while playing with the kids, which brought up a lot of memories.
Wiggins now will have to deal more than playground basketball.
This includes the trade rumors between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Wiggins was part of a proposed deal that would send him to the T-Wolves and Kevin Love to the Cavs.
This left him in a floating situation, unknown where he will end up playing as the season opens October.
But last week, the Cavs and the T-Wolves finalized the trade agreement and are awaiting the league’s approval.
“I don’t worry about anything that’s not in my control. I just know that when October hits and the season comes I’ll be playing basketball, the sport I love,” Wiggins commented on his fate.
Wiggins shared that his family is supportive and is helping him go through this phase.
