Bristol, England, United Kingdom (NewsBahn) – Over 500,000 visitors navigated storm warnings to attend the International Balloon Fiesta over the weekend.
The solid attendance figures came despite the warnings of strong rains and heavy winds that cancelled launches both Saturday night and Sunday morning.
“We had 325 balloons fly altogether along with the two Typhoon displays and the wing walkers which went down really well,” event director Ben Hardy said according to the Bristol Post. “We had to cancel both mass launches on Sunday unfortunately due to the weather, but crowds still flocked in to see the last wing walker event which finished the fiesta.”
The weather event was said to be caused by the remnants of ex-Hurricane Bertha. Event-goers enjoyed marvelous weather conditions and spectacular balloons on Thursday and Friday.
