Sebastien Le Toux leads Union attack in edging Impact

Chester, PA, United States (4E Sports) – The relentless Sebastien Le Toux netted two goals to lead the Philadelphia Union past Montreal Impact, 2-1 Saturday at at PPL Park.

The sequence of Le Toux’ first goal started after a foul by Union teammate Ethan White led to a free kick by Jack McInerney at the left wing.

After a miss, Union goalkeeper Zac MacMath recognized that Le Toux was trying to beat the Impact defenders and sent the ball to midfield.

That set up LeToux who surged past three defenders, including goalkeeper Impact Troy Perkins, to net a goal in the 12th minute.

In the 62nd minute, Le Toux launched a left-footed shot from the center of the box after a pass by Conor Casey but missed to the left.

But Le Toux doubled the Union’s lead a minute by later sending the ball right in the middle of the net on an assist by Andrew Wenger.

The energetic Letoux was at it again in the 65th minute, racing toward the Impact goal following an assist by Maurice Edu, but his shot was high and wide to the right.

Badly needing a goal, the Impact tried hard to push the ball but Anthony Jackson-Hamel, Krzysztof Krol, Dilly Duka and Gorka Larrea missed successive attempts in the 70th, 71st, 72nd and 73rd minutes.

Then Maxim Tissot, assisted by Andrés Romero, finally gave the Impact it’s first goal at the 79th minute.

Jackson-Hamel, Duka and Andres Romero won free kicks in the 83rd, 85th and 91st minutes due to fouls by Ethan White, Edu and Fred, but none of it would lead to the tying goal.
