Ritz Theater, downtown Clearfield

Weekend Movies:

Hercules (PG-13), 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Jersey Boys (R), 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m.

The theater’s lobby opens at 6:30 p.m. You can grab some popcorn, even if you cannot attend the movie showings. For movies and show times, please call 814-765-5835.  Prices are $6 for adults and $4 for children (12 years and under) and senior citizens (60 years and older).

Rock Run has announced it will host an ATV Summer Blast. The event will be held from Thursday, Aug. 7 through Sunday, Aug. 10.

Summer Blast will feature camping, food, vendors, entertainment and riding. In addition, there will be a “Vendor Midway” of new products and opportunities to test some.

Competitions will pit you against other riders to test your skills and get you a little muddy. Rock Run staff members will give a guided-tour of the park. In the evenings, the Midway will have food and some live entertainment.

“10 Years into the Future”

Corner Concert Series

Friday, Aug. 8

Clearfield native Eric Koval will bring an eclectic blend of old and new songs, as well as originals and cover tunes to the Corner Concert Series on Friday.

Music will get under way at 7 p.m. in the Shaw Park. The park is located across from the Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library in downtown Clearfield.

This year’s corner concerts are used to raise money and awareness for the Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre. The CAST is a non-profit, live performance theater and arts center in downtown Clearfield.

The corner concerts are free to the public, but a collection is received from those who are willing to give. Prizes, contests and special surprises are planned throughout the season.

Local musical guests provide entertainment with a different genre of music featured each week.

Some folks have seen shooting stars and other objects while looking towards the heavens. Learn about what causes these night sky phenomena and when your best opportunities for viewing them are. The night sky objects may not all be exactly what you think they are and you may see more than you could imagine. Every Saturday through Aug. 16, there will be yoga at 9 a.m. instructed by Metta Yoga of DuBois. Participants should bring a yoga mat and towel. The cost is a donated offering but $10 is recommended. Farmers Market, downtown DuBois

The downtown DuBois farmers markets will continue every Saturday through Oct. 25. The farmers markets will be open from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Long Avenue and Brady Street parking lot.

ATV Mud Bog & Jamboree

On Saturday, Aug. 9, an ATV Mud Bog & Jamboree will feature the band, Root 2 Fifth, at the Medix Hotel. It will also feature Hoffman’s Sports and Turf, Polaris ATV & UTVs, mud, Mountain Extreme CAN AM, mud, Brockway Honda, Honda ATVs and UTVs, mud, food, drink specials, prizes and monies raised for Elkland Search and Rescue. CAST Garage Sale

The Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre Inc. (CAST) has announced its fundraiser garage sale will be Saturday, Aug. 9, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Two large rooms will be filled with donations that have to go in just one day. Monies raised will help support the operating costs of the CAST.  The CAST is located at 112 E. Locust St. in downtown Clearfield.

“Turtles of Pennsylvania”

Join us as we learn about the different species of turtles that inhabit Pennsylvania and Elk Country. Super 322 Car Show

Sunday, Aug. 10

A car show will be held Sunday, Aug. 10, rain or shine, at the Super 322 Drive-In along U.S. Route 322 between Clearfield and Philipsburg. Judging will be conducted by the Antique Car Show Coordinators/Central Mountains Region (AACA). Stand Up Paddling Classes

Every Tuesday through Aug. 26, there will be stand up paddling classes at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the Bimini Lake Boat Launch at Treasure Lake. Classes are $8 for a one-hour session and every sixth class is free. There will only be four students per class. Classes will be cancelled if the water conditions are unsafe. Music in the Garden

The Presbyterian Church of Clearfield will hold its summer program, “Music in the Garden.” From 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesdays, there will be music offered in the garden of the church, located at 119 N. Second St.

Each week will feature local musicians offering a wide variety of vocal and instrumental music. You can bring your lunch, a folding chair and join for music and fellowship.

Clearfield Community Band, CAST

The Clearfield Community Band will appear on stage at the CAST Building on Tuesday, Aug. 12 for its annual concert.  The concert is free and everyone is welcome.  The doors will open at 6:30 p.m.; the concert will get under way at 7 p.m.

The band, under the direction of Larry Schmaus, draws on a vast repertoire, presenting Broadway, jazz, patriotic, easy listening, spiritual, polkas, etc. A free will offering will be accepted to help the CAST, the area’s non-profit cultural center.

The Clever Cricket Theater Company

Every Wednesday through Aug. 27 and then Aug. 28-29, the Reitz Theater, in partnership with Quiet Creek Herb Farm and the Arc of Clearfield/Jefferson Counties, will present The Clever Cricket Theater Company. It will take place from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

It will be changing the face of disabilities one act at a time. This joint project offers a chance for individuals with disabilities to experience the creativity, expression and self-development offered by the theatrical arts.

From acting to set decoration to costumes, folks will have a chance to experience the full range of theater activities and to learn the valuable skills taught by each. This is a great chance to create and to express.

All of it leading up to a performance that is sure to enlighten and entertain. Showings will be Aug. 13, 27 and 29 at the Reitz Theater in DuBois and Aug. 20, 28 at Quiet Creek Herb Farm in Brookville.
